Detox, Day 14: Home Stretch

I’m two-thirds of the way through my 21 day sugar detox, and I feel pretty decent. I’ve woken up almost every morning this week with a scratchy throat, which I could do without, but at the moment I’m pinning that on the bipolar weather we’ve got. We’ve had some fantastic days recently with lots of sun, and I was particularly excited for today’s forecast of 70 (70!). Instead, we’ve got 65, clouds, and storms rolling through. My plans to take a few hours and slowly, lovingly grill a pork tenderloin (with a few rounds of smoking chips, because why not) had to be postponed. Instead, I grilled up some chicken breasts while it spit rain. #worthit

Grilling and less than ideal weather aside, I’m also happy to have determined where I’m going to be living for the next year. It’s a nice, cozy spot called right where I’m living now. In a rather fortuitous turn of events, I was able to negotiate an extension of my lease agreement, and avoid the epic adventure that would have been moving. It’s a big weight off my shoulders to know where I’m going to be living through next spring, and now I can do some legit spring cleaning. I may also wind up working on a few odds and ends around the condo and taking care of some things I had originally planned on leaving alone, like the lighting situation in the kitchen.

Even though it’s only mid-April (which doesn’t sound that early in the year any more), I’ve started working on my summer bucket list. Last summer (most of last year, really) felt like a missed opportunity; weekends were spent watching Netflix and occasionally grilling, and I might have had a few friends over for dinner once or twice, but for the most part it was a very quiet, very isolated time. This summer needs to be different. Perhaps I’ll get the list fleshed out on Tuesday when it’s supposed to hit a high of 37. That might be a good time to think some summer-ey thoughts.
