Three-day adventure

Friday, I took the day off, mostly because I haven’t had a day off in a while. I had plans to revisit a cherished college tradition: pizza, Diet Coke, and Halo 2. For the most part, it was a successful revisiting; I rested, I played video games, I drank a ton of Diet Coke, and I didn’t change out of my pajamas until 3 in the afternoon. I probably could have made it all day if I really, really wanted to.

Saturday I went for a run with a friend to help her break in her new shoes, and then didn’t do much the rest of the day until going to a friend’s potluck that night, which is where I dropped my shiny EVO on her deck.

I’ve seen that phone get dropped face-down from 3 feet up on concrete floors and survive. I’ve seen it get dropped by newborns from a few feet up and land face-down on wood floors and survive. I drop mine for the first time on a deck from 2 feet up and the screen does that. At first, I had the same kind of $600 feeling I get when I see the check engine light on Jetta, but after thinking it through this morning, I took the phone to a Sprint store, where they replaced the glass for $35 and did it in about 15 minutes. Crisis averted.

Also, it was 80 degrees today. In three days’ time we went from average gloomy early April weather to late August weather, the kind where you don’t want to take a shower because you’ll just come out that much warmer but you already feel disgustingly sticky and grimy. At least I got this way attempting to play soccer, and to be honest, I’m kind of looking forward to this weather…at least for now.

You did a solid number on that screen, but sweet that the fix was only $35!
